Town Moderator

The moderator shall preside and regulate the proceedings, decide all questions of order, and make public declaration of all votes, and may administer in open meeting the oath of office to any town officer chosen thereat. The moderator is in charge of the election process from start to finish, whether it is by unofficial ballot, partisan official ballot, or the non-partisan official ballot (the so-called “Australian ballot”). Upon completion of the ballot counting, the moderator files a certification of election with the town clerk that indicates the number of votes received by each candidate.
